A Complete Guide to First Home Buyer Grants in Victoria

Buying your first home is an exciting milestone, but the deposit hurdle can feel daunting. Fortunately, the Victorian Government offers several grants and concessions to help first-home buyers enter the market.
First Home Owner Grant (FHOG)
If you are buying or building a new home valued up to $750,000, you may be eligible for a $10,000 grant. The home must not have been previously sold or occupied.
Stamp Duty Concessions
Stamp duty is one of the biggest upfront costs. In Victoria, first-home buyers are exempt from paying stamp duty on properties valued up to $600,000. For properties valued between $600,001 and $750,000, a sliding scale concession applies.
First Home Guarantee (FHBG)
The Federal Government's FHBG allows eligible first-home buyers to purchase a home with a deposit of as little as 5% without paying Lenders Mortgage Insurance (LMI).
